Effective September 4, 2026

Terms made to be understood.

These terms explain the responsible use of Family Tree and the services you may choose to connect to it.

Acceptance and scope

By downloading, accessing, or using Family Tree: Private Archive, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app or its optional cloud services.

These terms apply to the app, this website, support, cloud synchronization, and read-only family tree sharing. The Privacy Policy explains how information is handled.

App license and ownership

Family Tree is licensed, not sold, for your personal, non-commercial use. You may use the app on Apple devices associated with your App Store account, subject to Apple’s usage rules and the Apple Standard End User License Agreement.

The app, website, visual design, software, and related intellectual property remain the property of their respective owner. You may not copy, redistribute, sell, reverse engineer, or misuse them except where applicable law expressly permits it.

Your family content

You keep ownership of the names, relationships, dates, stories, photographs, and other material you add. You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of that content and for having the right to record, store, export, or share it.

Family archives can contain sensitive information about living people. Please respect their privacy, obtain any permission required by law, and share an archive only with people you trust.

Local data, cloud sync, and sharing

The app can be used locally without an account. You are responsible for keeping a separate export of information you cannot afford to lose and for protecting access to your device and backup files.

If you choose cloud sync, sign-in, or read-only sharing, you authorize the technical processing needed to provide those features. Access depends on your account, internet connection, Apple and Google services, and service availability. You can stop sharing or delete your cloud account from the app as described on the Support page.

Responsible use

Do not use Family Tree to break the law, violate another person’s rights, gain unauthorized access, disrupt the service, distribute harmful code, or upload content you are not entitled to use. Access to optional online features may be limited or ended when reasonably necessary to protect users, the service, or comply with law.

Changes and availability

The app and optional services may change as features, security requirements, operating systems, or third-party services evolve. Features may occasionally be unavailable, and no uninterrupted or error-free operation is promised. Reasonable care will be taken when changing or discontinuing a service that stores synchronized information.

Warranties, liability, and consumer rights

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Family Tree is provided “as is” and “as available.” No guarantee is made that the app will meet every requirement or prevent every loss of data. Liability is limited only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights, remedies, warranties, or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded or limited. The Apple Standard End User License Agreement also applies to App Store downloads; these terms supplement it and do not reduce Apple’s obligations under that agreement.

Changes and contact

These terms may be updated when the app or its services change. The effective date above identifies the current version. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms, to the extent permitted by law.

Questions about these terms can be sent to [email protected].
